2.05.03

The past five days have been a whirlwind of love and hate, truth and lies, pain and joy. It makes my head spin to think about it all. Today ended the story of Jon, Lauren, Lynne, and Ben. Today started the tale of Brittany and Kris. Today also marked the day when Dave's Mom's wish would not come true. Here is five days worth of life, wrapped up neatly in a text file document, and documented at 3am on the morning of the sixth.

The Story of Jon, Lauren, Lynne, and Ben:

The Way To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions

It all started in November 2002. Lynne, Jon's girlfriend of 3 years, gets lonely, and decides to leave Jon for his roommate Eric. Jon is heartbroken, and decides to start hating the love of his life. At the same time, Lauren complains to me that she has no one to snugggle with, and really desires a relationship. In early December, it clicks in my head that maybe these two souls meeting would put an end to their sadness. In December, I introduce them online.

The Fun Begins

Jon and Lauren immediatly hit it off. Soon they are flirting online. Then heavy flirting. Both becoming increasingly aware that they desire to meet each other. Lauren and I devise a week in which she will come to visit me over our breaks. The end of the semester flies by and soon break is upon us. A week before Lauren in supposed to visit, Lynne comes crawling back to Jon, begging him to take her back. He is unsure and gives no reply, but continues to spend time with her. Lynne fears she might lose Jon. Lauren comes to visit, and Jon and Lauren finally meet.

A Simple Kiss

Yes, they kissed. They grew very close over that week. Lynne was still spending time with Jon, and Jon was still torn over Lynne. Lauren comforted him. He accepted graciously. Lauren cries to Jon about Ben (her ex, and bed buddy). Jon helps Lauren get over Ben once and for all, and Lauren proceeds to tell Ben off (an act long overdue). One night, Lynne actually came to my house to talk to Jon. She and Jon talked. Jon and Lauren grew closer. The break ended and Lauren went back.

And A Baby Makes Three

A few days back after break, Lynne breaks the news to Jon... she's pregnant with his child. Jon decides to leave Lynne for Lauren anyway. Lynne, being a high school student, miscarries the child. Lauren makes Jon promise not to change his mind about this. Jon and Lauren consummate the relationship over a weekend. Love in the air...neither could be happier. Or so it seemed.

Brewing Doubts

A week after, Jon's doubts consume him. He does not know if he really loves Lauren, or if he still wants to be with Lynne. He tells Lauren that he is still in love with Lynne, and is not sure if being with Lauren is the right thing to do. Lauren is very hurt. Jon doesn't know what to do. He's not sure if he loves Lauren, and he's not sure if he wants to be with Lynne. After a couple days of thinking he makes his decision.

Things Get Worse

Jon tells Lauren to "walk away"...that he never loved her...and that she never loved him. He goes crawling back to Lynne, complaining about a traumatizing weekend, and how lost and in pain he was. Lauren calls me up at mindnight on the night of the 4th crying. We talk until 3:30am. She feels slightly better, but winds up hating Lynne and Jon.

Today

Today I wake up at 10:30 and check online to see if I have any messages. I notice Lynne online, and decide to talk to her about this whole situation and see how she feels. My mistake. What I get is an hour long rip. Lynne claims that she forced herself to lose the child, that Jon had made the same promise to her when they slept together, that she had been planning to hurt Lauren, Jon, and myself when she came over, and that Lauren and I were both dumb, but she liked us anyway. Then she asked me the ultimate question..."Why did I start this entire thing?" And I answered honestly. I told her that I saw two of my good friends very hurt and thought that they could be happy together. I merely introduced them. She then asked me when I introduced them. I told her "A month after you broke up with Jon." She deamed that to be fair, and that was the end of it. Later today, I hear from Lis that Jon also blames me for this whole mess, and for taking advantage of him when he was in a weakened state.

Today I lost two friends...one more of an aquiantence, the other a good friend. After that display of idiocy and rage on both party's parts, I want no more to do with them. They can have each other for all I care.

The Tale Of Brittany and Kris:

Brittany, my friend Lis's roommate, tried to kill herself today. Lis stopped her, but she ran away, and the police got her when she came back and took her to the hospital. As soon as I heard I ran over to Lis's to see Tyska and Meg already there, thankfully. We all watched Lilo and Stitch and made Lis feel better. It's good to have friends, especially when you really need them. More of this story as it unfolds.

Dave's Mom's Wish Doesn't Come True:

Dave's Mom has cancer. She recently got back from the hospital after an infection did a number on her. With the TCNJ formal coming up, she had hoped to see Dave and me in our formal wear, and take pictures before we left. She said she'd hope she'd be able to see us off, provided she wasn't in the hospital again.

Today, Dave had class from 9:30-12:20, and then we both had the Society for Creative Endeavors meeting from 1-2. At 2, Dave had a tutoring orientation till 3. He came over at 3, with our friend Sean and we all hung out till about 5 or so. At five is when he got the call. His Mom had fallen in the garage while trying to get to the box of Clementines. She had taken a nasty hit to the head, and he was to come home immediately while his Dad ran her to the hospital.

Dave immediatly assumes blame. "I should have left when the tutoring thing was over. This is all my fault. If only I had been home..." and he leaves. I catch him hours later online. He says that his Mom's in the ICU and that she'll be there awhile. The doctors say it doesn't look that bad, but that she has bleeding in her skull. I ask him how he's doing. He's cleaning the house to make up for not being home. He tells me that after his Mom gets home, he's not stay on campus except for classes and tutoring. He's going to be exclusively homebound until the end of the semester. He's threatened this kind of thing before. Eventually he and his parents gets on each other's nerves so much that he comes back to visit me, but it always makes me sad when he says those things. His Mom will heal, and he'll help out for awhile...we are still going to the formal...but we'll see what happens after that.

Addendum:

I contracted a stomach bug on Monday the 3rd. It was terrible, but I'm feeling fine now.

It is now 3:37am on the morning of the sixth.
