*06.22.2003 - 7:18 p.m.* Harry Potter Day! On Friday June 20th, I went to work at Borders, expecting the worst. I wasn't dissappointed. That night, at midnight, we were going to start selling Harry Potter and the Order Of The Phoenix. I went into work at 8am, and when we opened at 9, we were deludged with questions about Harry Potter that night. "Are you guys selling Harry Potter?" "Are you doing anything for Harry Potter tonight?" "Can I buy my copy now?" "Can I reserve my copy now?" It was a huge mess. We had taken 1,800 reservations and had only 1,600 books. The corporate office had decreed that no more reservations for Harry Potter were to be taken until Monday. The best question asked was this: "Was the truck that was stolen the truck of your shipment?" So, I finished up my first shift at 4pm. Yes, my first shift. I had specially asked to work that night. I had two copies of the book on reserve, and I wanted to be there to see how big this thing would be. I went home, got showered, changed, and left with my brother to go get Leah. All three of us showed up at about 9pm. Greg and Matt's band were playing, and they were not that bad at all. The place was PACKED. I had never seen Borders so crowded.
