Addendum:

After talking with Marty, I realized that if I go to Best Buy, maybe I can trade it in for a newer model and pay the difference. Or maybe they can tell me what kind of adapter I need. If Best Buy can't help me, I'll re-sell it on e-bay, but I'm going to try them first. This gives me hope.

So yeah, I got the iPod today.

And had I not been taken, I would be jumping for joy.

Here's how it goes: I get the package, I'm excited. I bring it too the game with me. Jaime says that he has an iPod too and wants to see mine. As soon as I take it out, he says "Oh...it's one of the old ones." Reg flag goes up. Apparently, this one is an older model. It's clunkier, and it doesn't have the new neat-o dock thing that all the new ones come with. I think, "It's ok. It still works, and it's still portable, and it's still 20 gig. I just need to get the USB cable and I'll be fine." So, I'm home and researching this cable that I need. They exist...

BUT ONLY FOR THE iPODS WITH THE NEW DOCKING BAY.

For the one I have, I would need to get a FireWire card for my laptop, which costs about 50 bucks.

So, yeah, I was taken. I thought I had done my research, and now I'm stuck with this iPod that's obsolete. I wish the guy had mentioned it was an older model in the auction.

So, now I'm not sure what to do. I could try to re-sell it and make some of my money back. I could just break down and buy the FireWire card, but I really DON'T want to do that.

On the plus side, the iPod did come with the guy's CD collection still on it. I just have no way to load it on to my computer.

Hmm...

Up until this point, I've never had any bad dealing with anyone on e-bay...this is my first lemon. I guess it's my own fault...maybe I could have researched more. But, I don't think it's completely my fault. After all, the guy never specified that it was an older model.

I'm going to talk to Dad and Dave before I re-sell it. See what they think. I think that's my best option though.

Oh well...at least I can see if there's any music on it I like.
