*02.25.2004 - 8:22 a.m.* Bush is pushing for an constitutional amendment that defines "marriage" as a union between a man and a women. If I may quote The Constitution on this matter: "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."Now, did that not just say that the Constitution was written to "establish justice" and "secure the blessings of libery to ourselves and our posterity"? Let's see what Jefferson said in the Declaration of Independence (the reasons why America broke away from England in the first place): We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."All men are created equal", last I checked, homosexuals were scientifically proved to be human. "that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Their Creator...could be God...could be Mom, depending on their beliefs, with certain unalienable rights. Bush is trying to alienate the rights of homosexuals. He obviously has complete disregard for the basic principles America was founded on. To Bush, I would say, look at these two women. They have been together for fifty one years. That's longer then most "normal" marraiges last. If one of them, God forbid, gets sick, the other can not visit them in the hospital. Can not give them care, or share insurance. If one of them, God forbid, dies, the other is left with nothing. All that time together would mean nothing, simply because one of them wasn't a man. Is that justice? And for all you Bible thumpers out there, get this: The Bible is NOT God's honest truth. The general consensus of all religions is that men are flawed. The Bible was written by men. Therefore the Bible is flawed. Don't believe in the Bible, believe in God. They are two seperate things. The Bible is a collection of stories that people are supposed to interpret for themselves. Two people can read the same story two different ways (as I have learned in my Fiction Workshop class). For all those who think that the Bible is the purest form of literature, please pick up this book and enlighten yourselves. The Bible isn't what it seems. Finally, I just want to clarify my stance on things, because I know my family reads this:
